March 14 is Children’s Crafts Day. What a great time to make a craft or two with your kids! Or just enjoy creative time with your kids any day 🙂
I know that life gets busy. Completion of homeschool work and chores. Activities and errands.
How does a fun homeschool mom (that’s you!) fit craft time into your day?
With some simple preparation and consideration of your family’s schedule!
Reasons Why Craft Time Is Important
Crafts provide your family with a wonderful opportunity to connect.
While you are planning and working on a craft, chatter can arise. As hands are kept busy, your kids and you may feel more comfortable chatting about a specific topic or nothing in particular.
Depending on the craft of choice, fine motor skills are typically practiced. Many crafts present a bit of a challenge to finger dexterity and more.
Creative juices begin to flow as your child works out self-expression through the manipulation of arts and crafts materials.
Your child may also benefit from building skills in following directions and taking turns (for example, if there is only one pair of scissors).
How to Make Time for Crafts & Hands-On Activities
Are you still wondering how you can make time for crafts in your homeschool and family life? Is this just another task to add to your to-do list and build up your mommy guilt?
Oh, I truly hope not! I do not want you to feel compelled to include craft time into your everyday schedule if it would be stressful.
Lean in. I have a secret for you about craft time.
>>> You don’t have to do crafts every day to reap the benefits. Also, your crafts do not need to be super complicated, Pinterest-worthy displays of creative genius.
Your craft time can be just what you make of it. (Just like your homeschool!)
You have the power to design a craft time based on the wants and needs of your family.
Crafts for your homeschool can be composed of simple two-step creations. Or complex designs that take days or weeks to complete.
The joy and beauty of craft time for your family is: YOU select based on what is best for you and your kids.
Let’s say you have a super busy week. Like, you aren’t even sure what you are going to be able to come to the surface for a quick breath of air. You may think, “I have absolutely no time to even consider crafts for my kids this week.”
I invite you to pause and rethink. Why? Well, easy crafts might just actually be your saving grace. Easy crafts might be your way to grab those few puffs of air (and maybe even a moment or two to yourself!).
What types of magical crafts am I referring to that can help you actually gain time for yourself?
The quick and easy crafts that do not take much prep work, materials, or money.
Boom! And you are welcome:)
