Preschool years are special for young learners. A wonderful time to explore and discover the world around them! Excited to be able to do more, preschoolers love to learn with their hands, hearts, and minds.

One of my absolutely favorite age groups to teach is preschoolers. I had the privilege of working alongside my mom as a preschool summer camp during my high school years. Perfect practice for homeschooling my boys through their preschool years!

I had always wanted to create a homeschool preschool program with elements that I knew work well with this age group. My boys and I have enjoyed several preschool curricula over the years. With my youngest starting homeschool preschool this year, I knew it was now or never to make my dream come true.

Why Preschool Enchantment?

Over the years, I have recognized that certain themes and approaches seem to work best for preschoolers. Highest engagement and mastery of skills seems to come from using:

  • familiar subjects and themes, building on previous knowledge
  • hands-on learning (experiential, kinesthetic)
  • combining multiple subjects to study a theme (like unit studies)
  • activities to spark creativity and imagination
  • including a variety of skills and activities to address different learning styles
  • a relaxed approach

Fairy tales, fables, and nursery rhymes are often familiar stories and themes for kids. I have found that these timeless classics open the door to fascinating conversations and memorable lessons. And these stories lend themselves to fantastic hands-on learning and creative activities! Who doesn't benefit from a bit of enchantment?

The number reason that I wanted to create homeschool preschool resources using fairy tales, fables, and nursery rhymes:  I love them and know that my enthusiasm will transfer to my little man.

What To Expect With Preschool Enchantment

Preschool Enchantment is all about connecting with your young learners (and any older ones that one to join in!). Activities are designed to help you easily prepare and execute preschool level activities related to storytime. Parental participation is a must. Your young learners want to spend time with you and have you help them learn and grow. If you have a large family (like we do), older siblings can step in and successfully work through these activities with your preschoolers. The key to these Preschool Enchantment activities is providing your young learner with opportunities to delight in their discoveries.

Preschool Enchantment Unit Studies are designed to be spread out over at least one week. Concepts covered each week include:

  • Letter of the Week (later, reading concept of the week)
  • Number of the Week (with the addition of math concept later in the program)
  • Color or Shape
  • Songs
  • Hands-On Activities
  • Crafts
  • PreK STEM
  • Suggested materials for the week

I plan on sharing a total of thirty Preschool Enchantment Unit Studies. Twenty-six preschool unit studies will be based on Fairy Tales, Fables, & Nursery Rhymes. Four will cover special topics like Our Five Senses and All About Me. All Preschool Enchantment Unit studies will include suggested weekly activities, materials, and printable pack to extend the learning fun.

I know what it means to have a crazy schedule. I designed these weekly preschool unit studies with fairy tales, fables, and nursery rhymes themes to be as simple as possible (meaning able to pick up and start learning!).

Also, I am a firm believer in play as the primary activity for preschoolers. These activities are to supplement story time and lots of play. I am just the type that needs a plan and bit of preparation if I am going to successfully teach homeschool preschool;)

I will release new Preschool Enchantment Unit Studies after using with my younger boys. I want to make sure that all activities can be successfully accomplished with relative ease.
