Creative Tips for Enjoying These Coloring Activities
Gather your favorite coloring tools before beginning these art color-by-number activities. My boys like to use crayons, color pencils, and markers. For larger areas, they love using Kwik Stix (or other tempera paint sticks).
If you're working with younger students who may have difficulty reading the color words, underline or shade over that word with the correct color. This step makes it easier for your kids to complete the activity and helps them learn how to read color words.
Want to easily add a creative touch to these coloring activities? Make your own color by number code! Switch out the colors for different shades or use your favorites.
If you're working with a group of students (or would like a fun way to showcase your child's work), cut out the finished activity. Add to a poster board or bulletin board for a colorful display in your classroom, homeschool space, or hallway.
Use the backs of the pages to write down (or draw) how each of these color by number activities relate to art. For example, how do artists use paint in different ways to express themselves?
Another fun idea is to create your own art alphabet game on the back of a page. Make a list of all 26 letters of the alphabet. Then, think of art-related words that fit each letter.
Oh, and I highly recommend playing some music in the background as your kids work. Pick the music based on the mood or atmosphere that you'd like to set. Could you and your students use a little pick-me-up? Choose energizing, upbeat music. Need to calm down and relax? Pick soft, slow music.
