Why Fun Days Totally Rock
Over eight years ago, my mom gave me a flip calendar filled with quirky “fun days”. At first, it was something my boys and I looked at together and had a few giggles.
Those small playful moments sparked conversations and laughter. I started making printable calendars of these fun days for my boys and me so we wouldn’t forget them. And you know what? We still use them in our homeschool morning time today. My youngest reads out the fun day, we chat about it, maybe look something up, and share a laugh.
Things like Name Your Car Day were big hits. At the time, we had a silver Honda Odyssey named Vanna because, well, Van + Vanna. The boys thought it was hilarious! Side note: We now have a Toyota Highlander named Cocoa because she’s brown and sweet.
It’s never big or complicated. It’s just one of those small ways we’ve stayed connected and made memories without the stress. And that’s what Fun Days Made Simple is all about.
After I made my first fun day calendar, I realized something important. A fun day doesn’t have to depend on a quirky holiday. Sure, those are cool reminders on the calendar, but the real magic is having fun anytime.
It might be tied to a theme (pumpkins in the fall, cookies in December) or something simple your kids love. The point isn’t the date on the calendar. The point is making it easy to enjoy 30 minutes of fun together without stress or overwhelm.
Print-and-go activities to make everyday moments simple, relaxed, & full of joy!
