DIY Flowers to Boost Your Celebration

If you want to make your Cinco de Mayo with kids extra special, I highly recommend that you add these simple fiesta flowers to your activity list. These beautiful homemade blooms are a bunch of fun to make and delightful to look at.

A few years ago, I was putting together our Cinco de Mayo unit study for our homeschool. I was thinking of different ways that I could get my boys interested and active during our preparation. We had made balloon pinatas before and knew we wanted those on our list. I wanted to round out our party with something a bit than what we typically do.

Well, as an all-boy homeschool, flowers have never been top of the list for activities! I wasn't sure how these tissue paper fiesta flowers would go over but was excited to try them. I figured at the very least that I'd have some pretty Cinco de Mayo-themed decorations for our homeschool room.

I was thrilled (and a bit surprised to be honest) that the boys enjoyed making these flowers. In fact, they made me a headband out of the flowers! "Mom, we made you a flower crown!" It was the sweetest thing. They loved seeing me wear their creation. And I have to admit, I felt like a little fiesta queen with my very own flower crown!

Enjoy a fiesta of learning fun with your kids using this Cinco de Mayo Unit Study.
