Easily Add a Creative Touch to Your Mother's Day Celebration
If you're looking for a unique way to help kids show mom that they care, these free printable Mother's Day bookmarks to color are incredible ideas!
I love finding print-and-go ways to celebrate any holiday, season, or special event. These types of printables are easy to prep ahead of time or get ready if you need a last-minute activity.
As I was thinking ahead for things that my boys could do in our homeschool to prepare for Mother's Day, I was reminded of some of their more recent favorite activities - coloring bookmarks (like our Pokemon, Super Mario, and Minecraft bookmarks)! These printables are a bit more detailed and the boys like that type of challenge.
Since I love to read, I thought bookmarks would be fun for the boys to customize and give to me and other mother figures in their lives. I hope that your children have a blast making and sharing them, too.

Creative Ideas for Making These Coloring Bookmarks
I recommend that you use white cardstock to print these bookmarks to improve durability. Also, consider laminating the bookmarks after your student is done coloring and customizing.
I used glitter gel pens to complete my bookmarks. I love the shiny, shimmery effect these pens make. My boys prefer using fine-tip markers and color pencils. Crayons can work but make sure they have a nice tip.
Another easy way to reinforce the bookmarks is to use washi tape on the backs. This step strengthens the bookmark, as well as adds a fun pattern or texture (like glitter washi tape).
An extra idea is to punch a hole in the top of the bookmark and attach a ribbon or piece of colored twine or yarn.
Your kids can make these bookmarks for the maternal figures in their lives. These printable bookmarks are perfect for:
- Your Mother's Day poetry teatime
- Celebrating Mother's Day
- DIY bookmarks shared at your library or community event
- Brain breaks
- Early finishers in your classroom
