Learning Fun With Dr. Seuss: Great Day for Up!

So excited to share some learning fun activities with this book by Dr. Seuss! Great Day for Up is a fantastic book for early readers. It is also just a plain ol' fun read aloud for the whole family.

If you do not own a copy of Great Day for Up, I highly encourage you to run to your local library and check out their copy. Better yet, why not add a copy to your personal library? I'm quite sure it will become one you treasure for years.
Great Day for Up (Bright & Early Books(R))
This book is one of my favorites to use with early readers. The word "up" is repeated throughout the book so even young readers can build confidence with recognizing it. Great Day for Up also has a nice representation of sight words.
My boys and I also love the illustrations in this book. Simple and fun, the pictures appropriately represent focus words.
The best part of the book (well, at least in our humble opinions) is the surprise ending. We always get a good chuckle and can easily relate to this ending. (If you have read, would you agree? If you haven't read, would love to hear your thoughts when you have!)
Dr. Seuss Great Day for Up Activities!
To extend the learning fun with Great Day for Up, I created a printable pack. This activity pack includes:
- page of suggested songs, activities, and crafts
- Great Day for Up pictures for most focus words for a DIY collage
Smiley and Bear had a great time coloring these pictures and creating their "UP" collage. (Detailed instructions are included in printable pack.) Smiley built a word list to study based on these pictures.
