Fun Activities to Celebrate Earth Day with Kids

Enjoy some fun activities and discussions with your kids this Earth Day. Celebrated on April 22, this special holiday is a wonderful time to get your kids on board with environmentally-friendly practices.

My five boys and I like to include Earth Day challenges and lessons into our homeschool adventures. We strive to learn about new ways to care for and love our planet.

To make sure that my younger boys feel a part of our learning fun and get the most out of our Earth Day lessons, I've created special printables to solidify the concepts. In addition to our Earth Day Color by Symbol pages, I've made these Earth Day Tracing Pages to help young learners get excited about protecting our Earth.

I also love pairing these types of activities with other learning resources, like Earth Day preschool books.

These three tracing pages include prompts for kids to maximize the use of the paper by creating lists and brainstorming on the back of each sheet. (I'm aware that printables aren't necessarily the most environmentally friendly things so use this opportunity to teach kids about ways to stretch the use of worksheets and such!).

And our other Earth Day activities have been big successes! The boys have had a blast using our Earth Day cootie catcher to chat about ways they can help our planet. The Earth Day scavenger hunt has been a wonderful activity, too. My younger boys practiced counting and making a graph with our Earth Day I Spy Activities. Oh, and we've been taking turns playing our Earth Day treasure hunt game with each other - so much fun!
