Why Our Family Loves March Conversation Starters!

Chatting with your kids can be such fun! Conversations with your children are awesome ways to relax and connect as you get to know each other.

As much fun as those chats can be, there are times when all parents feel like a deer in headlights when it comes to finding a relevant topic of conversation.

Maybe you're tired or having an off day? For homeschoolers, it's easy to get caught up in current studies and lessons. Personally, I have a tendency to hyperfocus on one topic and talk about it to death.

Exploring a topic and its multiple layers can rock as a homeschooler! But, it can get a tad boring after a bit.

Plus, there are other areas of life to explore, right?

I don't like admitting it but I have a tendency to zoom way too far into one topic, way after my family members have moved on. It can be hard to shake it off and think of something else to talk about during a homeschool brain break or meal conversation. Yes, I do have a tendency to talk about Earth Science or Algebra during dinner. I have no excuses except that I have a love for learning 🙂

Want to know my secret for keeping the conversations with my boys flowing despite my "tendencies"?

Enter March Conversation Starters! These free printable questions have monthly themes and other fun topics to ponder and discuss.

How Our Family Uses These March Conversation Starters

In addition to my "tendencies", two of my boys have trouble with self-expression, especially in group situations. I've been working on helping them build their self-expression skills through focused activities that involve discussion. These March Conversation Starters have been wonderful additions to our homeschool day.

We typically use one of these March Conversation Starters during:

  • Homeschool brain breaks
  • Homeschool morning time
  • Meals
  • In the car (especially on the way to or from soccer practices and games)

Our family has enjoyed these special moments of connecting and getting to know each other better. Some of the questions are goofy. Other questions prompt creative thinking. All of the questions provide our family with opportunities to grow and develop deeper relationships.

Have a blast chatting with your kids using these free printable March conversation starters.
