As my boys continue with their studies using All American History by Bright Press Ideas, I continue to be amazed at all this homeschool history curriculum has to offer. I love learning along side them, covering topics or details that we were not presented during my school years. Best part: my boys are having fun as they dig deeper into our American history.
All American History Review Games
We wrapped up the lessons on the Civil War before starting our holiday break. To help solidify concepts and have some history fun, we played review games. The Teacher Guide/Answer Key for contains helpful suggestions on review games to use in your homeschool.
One of the suggested review games is learning the U.S. presidents in sequential order. Professor, our history buff, knows his Presidents inside and out. Captain, our hands-on learner, benefited from playing a modified basketball to memorize U.S. Presidents covered thus far in our history studies.
Another suggested review game uses All American History's Civil War Hall of Fame descriptions and pictures of famous people from that time period. Following directions, we glued picture to one side of an index card and wrote famous person's name on other side. To help with review of facts and notetaking, the boys added important facts about each person with their name. The boys used these review cards to match important facts with the famous historic individual.
To liven up their review game, we played a modified game of Hedbanz. Each boy placed a review card from their All American History studies into a headband. We all had fun asking questions and trying to figure out which historic figure we were!
