Enjoy a Relaxed First Day with Your Kids

Would you like to make your first day of homeschool super special with your kids? You totally can and it doesn't have to be stressful, expensive, or boring!

Oh, and these ideas and activities apply whether you follow a traditional schedule (like starting in August or September) or homeschool year-round (like we do).

You have enough to think about and plan for in your homeschool. I know how much time, effort, and energy you put into preparing and planning for awesome homeschool adventures with your kids.

And I also know how quickly that time and energy get sucked up-as well as your budget!

But, you still want to make your first day of homeschooling rock. Back to Homeschool time is such a fabulous opportunity to set the stage for learning, connection, and fun.

Over the years, my boys and I have had a blast our first few days back at homeschooling. We've made back to school handprint crafts and poetry activities. Our back to homeschool conversation starters have been awesome ways to chat about our hopes and goals for the year. I love to look back on their First Day of Homeschool worksheets, too!

How to Play Back to Homeschool Bingo

Subscribe to Rock Your Homeschool (find out how at the bottom of this post) to get this free printable set. Print your bingo cards and calling cards.

Cut out both sets of cards. Separate the calling cards into two piles. One pile will have the cards with the letters (H O M E). The other pile will have the homeschool materials. The materials on the cards are:

scissors
crayon
ruler
gold star
water bottle
pen
glue
brain
notebook
apple
eraser
pencil
musical notes
sharpener
idea
paint brush
magnifying glass
paperclip
checkmark
globe

Each player chooses a bingo game card. One player randomly selects a letter card and a homeschool material card. If a player has that material in that letter column, they may place a marker.

The winner of the game with have covered 4 spaces across or in a diagonal.

Easy Ways to Boost the Fun with This Game

Bingo can be such a cool way to add a touch of fun to your back to homeschool time.

If you think you'll be using this bingo game in future years (I hope so!), I highly recommend that you print on white cardstock. Also, consider laminating to further increase durability.

Want to surprise your children or using with little ones? If so, then I suggest that you cut out and prepare the game ahead of the time that you'll be using. Otherwise, you can have your kids help you get the game ready.

Make sure that you have some type of bingo markers. We've used colored floral glass, small toys, mini-erasers, and dot-a-dot markers.
