Frugal Fun with The Cat in the Hat

Do you need an affordable activity to pair with The Cat in the Hat book by Dr. Seuss? Are you preparing for a special Dr. Seuss Day celebration (or Read Across America Week) and need some easy-to-make crafts? Perhaps you're planning a Dr. Seuss or Cat in the Hat party and want both DIY decor and activities?

Well, this Cat in the Hat toilet paper roll craft is an outstanding choice for all of those things!

Dr. Seuss and his collection of books have been delightful additions to our homeschool adventures. I enjoyed these stories when I was a child and looked forward to sharing with my children. I started reading these books to my oldest when he was little and kept that tradition going with all four of his younger brothers.

When each of my boys showed signs of wanting to learn how to read, one of the first books that I used was The Cat in the Hat. And with good reason! This early reader book has basic words that children first learn when reading.

My boys enjoyed both the rhymes and the silly situations that The Cat in the Hat got Sally and her brother into. This classic book captured their interest and kept them engaged.

To extend all of that learning fun, I found that it was helpful to have hands-on activities to pair with their reading. This Cat in the Hat toilet paper roll craft was one of their top picks!
