Easily Boost Creativity with This Easter Activity

If you're looking for an affordable way to enjoy a hands-on activity for Easter fun with kids, you're going to love these activity tray ideas and tips. It's a simple project that provides endless ways to design Easter eggs with different materials.

I loved using these types of activity trays with my boys when they were young. These activities are relatively easy to set up and include craft supplies that we always had in our homeschool cart or storage.

Like our other activity trays (gingerbread, ugly Christmas sweater, and snowman), this design an Easter egg tray encourages creative play and sparks imagination. It's also a great way to focus their energy in positive ways, especially during the holidays.

Oh, and I love how you can turn it into sensory play (like when I'd include playdough) and more!

Suggested Supplies for This Activity Tray

I have many reasons why I love using activity trays with kids. One of the best things about this activity is that there's really no wrong way to do it. Go through your craft materials and see what you have to safely use. And please feel free to substitute with the supplies that you have. Would you like a starting point for gathering your materials? Here are the supplies used in my examples:

  • Foam Sheets
  • Pom Poms
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Beads
  • Glow-in-the-Dark Stars (or other fun shapes)

I also often like to include materials like:

  • Cardstock
  • Buttons
  • Sequins
  • Yarn
  • Playdough
  • Ribbon
  • Beads (pony beads or wood beads)
  • Washi tape

Ideas and Inspiration for This Easter Egg Activity

To begin, cut a simple egg shape out of the foam sheets (or cardstock). You can use my free printable egg templates for guidance.

Also, cut zigzags as wide as the egg shapes from foam for fun decorations. Your kids (or you) can cut pipe cleaners into smaller sizes. Bend the pipe cleaners into swirls and squiggles as well.

Let your students design the eggs with the various supplies. Decorations can be glued down to make it permanent or just placed on the eggs to make this a repeatable craft.

Add a neat challenge to this project by encouraging your children to make patterns with colors.
