Inspire Your Readers with Motivational Punch Cards

How do you instill the good habit of reading in your kids? Sure, you can force them to read and make it a struggle.

But, what if you had an easy way to make it fun? 

Reading punch cards are amazing tools for motivating kids to read. I started using an informal version (index card and hole punch) of this approach with my older boys when they started reading. My boys loved the satisfaction of punching that hole into their card when they completed a book. 

Now, I've used my love of creating learning fun printable resources to make more engaging reading punch cards for kids.

With the approach of Read Across America Week (and our Dr. Seuss Day celebration), I'm making and sharing new Dr. Seuss-Inspired learning fun resources, like these punch cards 🙂 

Creative Ways to Use Dr. Seuss-Inspired Reading Punch Cards

These reading punch cards, featuring Dr. Seuss friends, are fantastic for use in your classroom, homeschool, and library. 

Want to boost the learning fun with these reading punch cards for kids? Here are some suggestions based on what's worked with my boys:

• Write the child's name on the card (front or back).
• Use the back of the punch card to record books and/or minutes read (optional). 
• Allow your child to pick appropriate reading goals for their level.
• Keep your Dr. Seuss-Inspired Reading Punch Cards in the same place to avoid losing. Use as bookmark or keep in your book basket or shelf.
• Use a hole punch, decorative hole punch, stamps, stickers, or doodles to mark completion of reading time or book. Dr. Seuss-themed reading fun accessories make it extra fun 😉
