Sprinkle Some Fun Into Your Craft Time
Donuts have always been a super fun theme in our homeschool and family. Over the years, we’ve had a blast with donut-themed bookmarks, coloring pages, and even our DIY pool noodle stamp painting project. It’s one of those sweet themes that’s just stuck (in the best way).
As I was gathering and organizing some of our favorite donut activities to share, I remembered these adorable felt donuts we made. Oh my stars, what a hit they were! One of my favorite parts about this craft is just how simple it is to prep. As a busy homeschool mom of five, I loved that I could pull together basic supplies we already had and set up this quiet hands-on activity in no time.
The boys got to be super creative with their “flavors” and “sprinkles”. And it kept my younger ones busy and engaged while I worked with the older boys on schoolwork or read aloud to everyone.
These donuts also became a fun on-the-go activity. I stored the supplies in a zipper plastic bag and brought it along to appointments or soccer practice.
Felt crafts like this one are awesome because they’re not only frugal and easy to prep, but they’re also portable and screen-free so perfect for relaxed and creative fun wherever you are.

How to Make Your Felt Donut Craft
Cut the Donuts and Make the Frosting.
Cut tan felt into donut shapes with a hole in the center like a classic ring donut. Cut frosting shapes from brightly colored felt. Make them slightly smaller than the donut base with wavy edges for a realistic look. Cut matching holes in the centers of each frosting.
Create Sprinkles (and Other Toppings) and Assemble.
Cut tiny dots from various felt colors to use as sprinkles. Glue the frosting onto the tan donut base. Then glue the sprinkles onto the frosting. Let the donuts dry completely before using them in play.
