How to Make This Handprint Spider Craft
01
Make spider
Trace your child’s hand on black paper. Fold the paper in half and cut out the handprint to get two total handprints.
Flip one handprint opposite of the other. Overlap the palms of the two handprints so the fingers stick out in opposite directions. Cut thumbs off of handprints.
Glue handprints together. Glue googly eyes to the spider.
02
Draw web
Using a black marker, draw a spiderweb on the plate. One option is to start from a single point and draw webs out to several different points across the plate. Then, connect the webs together by drawing lines or arcs across. Let the ink dry.
03
Add glitter
Trace along the horizontal arcs with clear glue. Make several dots around the outside of the plate. It’s okay if the excess glue connects some of the dots.
Before the glue dries, pour glitter across the plate. Shake off excess.
Option: Use glitter glue to avoid mess!
04
Attach string
Punch a small hole in the plate at the corner of the web. Lace string through. Tie a knot or two to keep the string from pulling back through.
05
Add spider to string
Poke a small hole in the spider. Attach the string and tie knot to secure.
06
Add spider to string
Kids can pull the string to make the spider move up and down on their paper plate web.
Enjoy!
