Boost Learning Fun with Light Worksheets (Science for Kids)

Kids have that special knack to ask interesting questions - especially at the oddest moments. My boys do this ALL the time.

Recently, as I was turning out the lights at bedtime (which is often one of those random question times), my youngest son ask: How does light work?

Hmm...I don't know about you, but that's definitely not a time that I'm ready to get into lengthy science explanations 😉

So, I promised him that I'd jot down that super cool question and we'd explore it in our homeschool science that week.

Well, my boys and I had a blast learning about the science behind light and how it works. And we were happy to have these 7 printable worksheets to use as part of our learning fun!

What is Light Science?

Light science (known as optics) is the study of how natural and man-made light work. This type of study can include reflection, refraction, and even shadow.

With light science, you can learn about how light travels and how we see things.

Cool Examples of Light Science

One example of light science is reflection. This is when light hits an object and bounces off of it.

Another example is refraction. This is when light bends as it passes through a medium like water or glass.

Shadow science is another form of light science. This is when an object blocks out light, creating a dark area. All of these examples are ways that light behaves and affects the world around us.

Light science is a fascinating and important subject. It helps us understand how we see things and how light travels. With a little creativity, you can make light science fun for kids of all ages.
