Basic Shapes + Fun Craft = Cute Penguin!
If you need an activity that helps your kids learn and practice a bunch of skills, you'll love this penguin shape craft!
When my two older boys were young, I found it challenging to keep them busy, especially during the winter months. I had to really think outside the box for finding indoor activities that kept them engaged and curious.
I discovered that finding and using children's books with fun themes gave me a fantastic base for all sorts of fun - both educational and just because. I put together a long list of themes and book titles to use plus activities (like songs and crafts) to enjoy. At the time, I didn't realize it, but I was actually putting together both toddler and preschool lessons!
One of the books that we had the best times with was From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. My mom (now a retired Kindergarten teacher) gave us a big version of the book. As we read it again and again, the boys and I would act out the actions for each animal. So many smiles and giggles!
To keep the learning fun going, I did crafts based on the animals in the book. This basic shape penguin craft was one of our favorites!
