I'm so excited to share this snowman paper plate craft that's sensational for all of those things and many more!

During the Christmas season, my boys and I always enjoy a few classic movies for kids, like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and The Polar Express. Another festive favorite is Frosty the Snowman.

As part of our Christmas homeschool fun activities, I tried to find creative ways to boost learning and enjoy these movies. We'd read books, make yummy treats, and work on crafts related to the themes. This snowman paper plate craft is one of them!

Recommended Materials for This Snowman Craft

This affordable DIY project only uses a few supplies. I'm willing to be a hot chocolate that you have all of them in your craft supplies storage area!

This list of materials has the basic requirements for this craft:

Paper Plate
Black, Orange, Pink, and White Construction Paper
Glue
Scissors
Marker

Here are my ideas for other supplies that you can use to easily customize:

Washi tape
Foam stickers
Yarn, string, or twine
Cardstock (plain or decorative)
Glitter glue
Sequins

How to Make This Snowman Paper Plate Craft

Cut out snowman hat and face pieces

Cut the following shapes from construction paper: a black hat, small black circles, an orange carrot-shaped nose, small pink circles, a narrow white rectangle shape, and two bigger white circles.

Make the hat and eyes

Glue the white rectangle above the hat's brim. Glue the small black circles to the white circles for the eyes.

Glue on all pieces

Glue all the construction paper shapes onto the plate to create a face. Add the hat.

Add mouth

Draw a mouth with the marker. This step gives kids a chance to be creative. They can draw a simple mouth shape or a silly swirly mouth.

Creative Ideas for Making and Using This Paper Plate Craft

When it comes time to make this cute snowman with your students, I highly encourage you to think outside the box. What materials do you have that could be used to add a creative touch?
