Make Math Extra Fun with Hands-On & Creative Activities
Are you looking for simple ways to boost math time with your kids? If so, These Dr. Seuss worksheets are perfect additions (pun-intended!).
If your kids are working on basic addition facts, math time might start to get boring. Flashcards and drills can feel ho-hum after even a few days.
But, it's so important for kids to master their basic math facts! Your kids will have so much more confidence and ease when working on higher-level math when then have fact fluency.
To make it more engaging, change things up a bit. Hands-on and creative activities are fantastic ways to supplement your math curriculum as you boost learning.
Popular themes are easy ways to get kids excited about learning, especially math. Dr. Seuss books and characters have been some of my boys' favorite ways to extend learning fun (along with Star Wars and Harry Potter themes).
And the cool thing is that these activities don't have to be complicated or expensive! Take a look at these hands-on and creative ways to make addition fun.
Creative Ideas & Tips for These Free Dr. Seuss Worksheets for Math Fun
These 4 free Dr. Seuss activities provide your kids with fun and hands-on ways to practice basic addition facts. In this free printables pack, you'll find:
- Addition Fun Drills with 30 vertical problems (+ answer key)
- Fish Addition with 10 problems for your kids to count the fish in each bowl and find the sum of two bowls (+ answer key)
- Roll-and-Cover with Fox in Socks game uses 2 dice that your kids roll to find and cover the sum (also great for number recognition!)
- Dr. Seuss Dice Fun has 2 versions. One page has 18 dice combinations for your kids to add and record the sum. The second page has 18 blank space dice combinations for your kids to roll 2 dice, record the pips (dots), and record the sum
For the Addition Fun Drills, you can have your kids continue addition practice on the back of the worksheet. You could give them bonus challenges with larger numbers or two-digit addition problems.
The Fish Addition printable worksheet would be super fun with fish-shaped crackers (and make for a yummy snack). A great way to extend the learning fun after reading One fish two fish red fish blue fish!
