What are Doodle Prompts?
Daily doodle prompts are one or two words provided to spark creativity and imagination. Doodling, another way to describe free drawing, is a fabulous activity to build fine motor skills and thinking outside the box. Just picking up a pencil or crayon and doodling be relaxing for many kids and adults!
But, some kids get stuck. They get that blank paper “I-can’t-think-of-anything” look. Once that idea gets stuck in their head, your child might feel like giving up. One of my boys was struggling with this type of art anxiety whenever he went to draw.
Daily doodle prompts have helped my son loosen up and let go on paper. His doodles have gone from simple figures drawn in a few seconds to complex and detailed depictions that reflect his take on a topic. It has been awesome to witness his transformation from strongly disliking art to asking for more time.

You can use these doodle prompts at any time of day. My boys and I enjoy using these prompts during our homeschool morning time. They like having something to do with their hands while I am reading aloud. We have also used doodle prompts for homeschool brain breaks or as special treats to look forward to at the end of the day.
