Frugal Way to Boost Your Celebration

Are you getting ready for a fun Dr. Seuss Day or Read Across America celebration? Or maybe you're preparing to read the Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax (or watch the movie) with your children? Perhaps a Lorax Party is in your future and you'd like a fun photo prop and party favor?

Well, this Lorax mustache craft is an affordable and easy idea for all of that and more!

When my middle boy was little, there was a period of time when he was obsessed with The Lorax. He had a cute stuffed toy that he'd carry everywhere with him. We read The Lorax story so many times. And the movie was a top pick for car rides.

So, it came as no surprise when he asked to have a Lorax party for his birthday. The problem? At that time, I couldn't find much of anything when it came to party supplies for this theme!

I really had to get creative (especially because I was on a tight budget). This DIY Lorax mustache craft was one of our favorites from his party. We even used it for our homeschool Dr. Seuss and Earth Day celebrations!

Suggested Supplies for This Lorax Craft for Kids

This easy-to-make craft for kids uses only a few materials. If you'll be making this Lorax-inspired craft with multiple kids, for a party, or a class, it's a smart idea to make sure to have enough supplies (including extras!) for all.

Gather up these materials before your begin crafting your mustaches:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Orange Paint
  • Yellow Felt
  • Glue Gun
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors

If you want to keep it super simple, you can just use construction paper or cardstock for your mustache base. Felt does give this project a nice texture but you can add that by using a washi tape with glitter or grooves.
