Looking for a budget-friendly way to enjoy Minecraft themes with your kids? This Minecraft Creeper Craft is a fantastic idea for boosting homeschool fun or using for a Minecraft-themed party.

With just a few basic supplies (paper bag, paint, and markers), your kids can make their very own Creeper that’s also fun to play with and use. I'm sharing tips for making and using based on my experiences with my five boys and their love of all things Minecraft.

Oh, and I have ideas for keeping this project as mess-free as possible! You can use different supplies so it's stress-free and simple to customize. Let’s look at how you can get started with this frugal and fun Minecraft project that kids will love!

Fun and Frugal Minecraft Activity for Kids

If you’ve got kids who are obsessed with Minecraft or just getting ready to view the new A Minecraft Movie, this Creeper craft is an amazing screen-free way to boost their creativity. It’s an easy and affordable activity that lets kids get crafty and make something special based on their favorite video game.

I remember when my boys were younger and totally into Minecraft. In fact, they will still play it from time to time - especially with all the hype around this movie. Well, this paper bag Creeper craft was such a big hit!

Not only was it a fun way to keep them busy, but we also used the finished crafts as decorations for my middle son’s Minecraft-themed birthday party. It turned out to be a super cute and personal touch for the party. My boys loved showing off their work!

Also, these Creepers were perfect for DIY puppets. To put on their own puppet show, my boys made other Minecraft characters (like Enderman, Alex, Steve, Skeletons, and Zombies). It was easy tweak to the craft by using different colors of paint and markers.

What You'll Need for This Simple Creeper Craft

To have your Creeper paper bag project look like the one in the tutorial, I recommend that you use these craft supplies:

  • Brown paper bag
  • Light green paint
  • Dark green paint
  • Black marker
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil

When I did this craft with my younger boys (or just wanted to keep it as mess-free as possible), I made a few tweaks. We would use tempera paint sticks (like Kwik Stix) for a paint effect without all the drips or dry time. Also, for one set of Minecraft paper bag crafts, my boys cut squares out of construction paper and used a glue stick to adhere to the bags.
