Make It Easy to Learn About the Phases of the Moon

I love finding new and simple ways to make science fun, don't you?

Recently, my younger boys and I took our dog out for an evening stroll around our yard. The moon was bright and we each took turns guessing what phase it was in. Although we've learned about moon phases in our homeschool, it's been a tough concept to master.

I've found that hands-on activities and visual tools are awesome ways to help my boys (and me!) learn new things. When I shared this new phases of the moon foldable with them, they were excited!

Cut out the moon halves and two foldable pieces along the solid black lines.

Using an accordion fold, fold each piece with the moon phases. Fold the inner and outer tabs along the dotted lines.

Adhere the two moon phase pieces along the inner tabs with glue. Adhere a moon half to each outer tab with glue.
