Creative Ideas for Enjoying This Holiday Activities Pack
Before you get started with all this Chinese Lunar Year fun with your kids, you'll need to print out these activities. You can print all of these pages on regular white printer paper. I recommend that you print the dragon mask on white cardstock for extra durability.
Also, make sure to gather your coloring tools, like crayons, color pencils, and fine-tip markers. Your students may also like to have a pencil or erasable pen to use on the word search and crossword puzzle. This printable pack has a variety of coloring pages that make it great to work on fine motor skills and more.
Prior to working on these free Chinese New Year worksheets, I suggest going through the set with your kids. Talk about the themes and answer any questions that your students may have.
To make the dragon mask, you'll need scissors, hole punch, and string or yarn. Cut out the mask along the dotted lines. Use hole punch on each side of the mask. Tie string or yarn through hold and then at back of head. You can also use pipe cleaners on the sides - just be careful that the wire isn't poking out!
You can also turn the mask into a Chinese New Year dragon craft. Glue the mask on wood craft sticks and add construction paper for a Chinese New Year dragon puppet.
I highly encourage you to read books and watch videos (see below for fun resources) to learn more about Chinese New Year with your kids. It's a great way help kids of all ages learn about different cultures. Write out the names of common themes and traditions.
