Smart Supplies for This Uncle Sam Craft

This Uncle Sam craft for kids is great because it only uses a few materials (and you probably have most or all of these supplies at home).

You'll want to make sure to prepare these supplies before starting all of your DIY fun:

• construction paper in red, white, and blue
• glue stick
• liquid craft glue
• silver tinsel pom poms
• letter stickers in red and blue
• star-shaped craft punch or stickers
• pencil
• scissors
• Uncle Sam pattern (available at the bottom of this post)

How to Make This Handprint Uncle Sam Craft for Kids

Create this super cute Uncle Sam Hand Cut Out Gnome in just 15 minutes (or less) with no mess. It's a wonderful activity for learning about shapes and colors plus practicing skills of measuring, cutting, and counting.

STEP 1

Print and cut out handprint.

Download, print, and cut out free template OR trace your child's hand on white paper.

Trace other shapes onto colored paper according to the directions on the template sheet. Cut out all pieces with scissors.

STEP 2

Assemble the hat.

Attach three white strips to the red hat top with your glue stick. Glue the red-striped hat to the top edge of the hand-shaped cut-out.

Add the blue rectangle to create the hat brim. Attach the silver tinsel pom pom nose just under the hat brim with a dab of liquid glue. Set aside to dry.

STEP 3

Add star and letters.

Punch a star from construction paper or add a star-shaped sticker. Add letter stickers to spell USA or your child's name.

Attach the star to the hat with the glue stick.
