Easy Ways to Inspire a Growth Mindset for Kids

Have you heard about the wonderful benefits of growth mindset for kids? If so, then I'm sure you'd love to help your kids learn about and practice these positive skills 🙂

And what's great is that there are so many awesome ways to share growth mindset concepts with your kids!

My educational and professional background is in psychology and counseling. Although I became a stay-at-home mom after having our oldest, I still enjoyed reading and keeping up with developments in the field. I was thrilled to learn about the exciting mindset research that Carol Dweck and her team shared.

If you'd like to find out more about mindset research, I highly encourage you to read Dweck's book, Mindset.

As a mom, I strive to help my five boys push past fixed mindset tendencies and practice growth mindset skills in our homeschool and everyday life.

I look for simple ways to encourage growth mindset approaches. When we play games, work on a craft, or do chores, growth mindset principles of perseverance, compassion, and embracing challenges are highlighted.

Other simple ways that I weave growth mindset exercises into our lives is through printable activities. We've had a blast with our Growth Mindset Cootie Catcher, Conversation Cube, and Coloring Activities.

Now, we're adding copywork exercises to our growth mindset treasure chest!

I've created different types of growth mindset copywork printables. My boys range from 5 - 16 years of age and I wanted to accomodate for that age range.

Cool Ideas for Using This Growth Mindset Copywork Mini-Book

When I started to make these growth mindset copywork exercises, I thought it would be fun to be able to turn these printable pages into a special keepsake. My boys love creating mini-books to later look through and enjoy. Plus, I like having something awesome to add to their homeschool portfolios 😉

Prior to using these printables, the boys cut each sheet in half. The smaller size makes it easier to work with the paper.

I allow my boys to read through and randomly pick a copywork exercise. Depending on our erratic schedule, they may work on one a day or over a entire week.

Once they've selected a growth mindset quote, they read it aloud and chat about its meaning with me or a brother. Then, they use markers or color pencils to color in the letters.

After tracing the quote, the boys will use their best handwriting to copy it.

Smiley (10) likes to add drawing or doodles to the back of his copywork page.

You can simply line up the pages and staple at the edge to attach. Or you could use a hole punch and use a loose-leaf ring to create a special mini-book.
