Halloween Learning Fun with Alphabet Tracing and More
Would you like some quick ways to make print handwriting fun? Do you need simple ways for students to learn how to correctly form the print letters of the alphabet? Are you getting excited for Halloween and want some print-and-go ways to celebrate the holiday and have learning fun?
These Halloween-themed print handwriting worksheets are awesome for all of those things and more!
As a holiday, approaches, I've discovered that it can be wise to have a collection of print-and-go ways to make learning fun for my boys in our family and homeschool life. Attention spans tend to shrink with all of the holiday excitement. Instead of struggling to get my boys to sit down and get some work done, I get proactive by weaving holiday themes into our homeschool time.
Printable activities have been the easiest to organize and have ready. Also, these types of printables are perfect for boosting letter of the week themes and learning on-the-go ( just pop on a clipboard).
Handwriting has a tendency to be a not-so-favorite time in our homeschool. By pairing fun holiday themes with this type of work, I get a lot less moan and groaning and a lot better cooperation!
I love our free sets of print handwriting worksheets (like our spring, summer, and fall) because I know how powerful these types of activities are in practicing letter recognition and formation. It's my hope that these Halloween handwriting freebies are helpful for your students, too!

Ideas for Using these Free Handwriting Worksheets
If you're planning holiday fun with kids, these worksheets can give you inspiration for Halloween themes for each letter of the alphabet. I encourage you to go through these pages with your students and brainstorm different Halloween-themed words for each letter. Jot them down on a white board, chalk board, or paper to see how many you can come up with.
To give my boys extra practice as they learned how to identify and write print letters, I used these 3 fun activities. These ideas are simple and engaging ways for your students to become more confident with using the print alphabet. Demonstrate how to do these ideas to your kids so they can feel more comfortable when working on their own.
- Hands-On Print Practice:
- Trace the print alphabet letters on paper with their fingers.
- Practice tracing the print letters in the air.
- Use materials like sand, shaving cream, slime, playdough, cloud dough, or pudding to "write" in. These materials were game changers with my boys!
- Paper:
- Print these free alphabet tracing worksheets with Halloween themes.
- Your young learners can use a variety of writing tools, like pencils, crayons, or fine-tip markers to trace. Another idea to add a bit of color is to use erasable pens (like our favorite-Frixion Erasable Pens) or color pencils.
- Make copies of these worksheets so you kids can practice as much as they need!
- As your kids continue to practice, encourage writing both capital print letters and lower case letters to form a sentence.
