Do You Struggle with Confidence as a Busy Mom?

Why can confidence be such a struggle for busy moms?

As a homeschool soccer mom to five boys, I've noticed a few reasons why my confidence has taken a hit in my life. Maybe you can relate?

1. Too much to think about, organize, and do.

Chores, errands, appointments, activities. And there's only so much time in one day.

It's easy to let things slip through the cracks.

When this happens, I joke that I have "Swiss cheese brain". The constant pressure of activities and such in my life creates this whirlwind in my mind that spins out of control, creating holes of different sizes and shapes. Hence, information gets lost.

When you're being pulled in a million directions and feel like a piece of taffy, you understandably feel frazzled and scattered, losing track of where you're supposed to be and at what time.

All this type of chaos makes your confidence deflate like a popped balloon.

Don\'t let a busy schedule make you feel frazzled, frumpy, and dumpy! Take back your time & boost your confidence with these simple yet practical tips.

2. Distractions

Dust bunnies. Dirty dishes and diapers. Facebook.

Real-life and online, distractions can suck your joy and confidence.

When your house is a pit (or at least feels that way), you feel like you're not doing enough. That type of thinking starts to chip away at your confidence.

And then there's screentime. It's super easy to get lost on social media and before you know it, hours have evaporated. Oh, and let's not forget Netflix! You get hooked on a show and think just one more episode...

You feel guilty for not using your time more wisely. Yet, somehow these distractions (real responsibilities or online) overtake your day and leave you scratching your head over where exactly your time went.

As a busy mom, it's easy to get down on yourself. Start boosting your confidence & taking back your time.

3. Self-Criticism

Missed appointments. Late fees on library books. Rushing to soccer practices and wanting to hide under your steering wheel because you got your kids there seven minutes late.

Your confidence shrinks after repeated slip-ups with time management.

Self-doubt creeps in as you start to question yourself. You wonder if there's something wrong with you and why you can't get your act together like other moms (that yucky comparison trap!). Negative thinking rears its ugly head and your confidence gets zapped.

4. No time for self-care

And I'm not talking mani-pedis or massages. Although those types of activities would be delightful!

I'm referring to eating healthy, exercising, and getting enough sleep. Or relishing in a hobby that you're passionate about and helps you remember who you are as an individual. Even shopping for clothes or accessories that flatter your shape and lifestyle.

You know these things are good and necessary for your overall well-being. But, you think you don't have time because you're too busy.

Busy becomes a badge of being a "good mom". And it's an excuse to not do the things that are necessary for your health.

Because if you're busy and doing all these things to make sure your kids are getting all these fabulous experiences and moments, you're at least being a good mom, right?

Believe me. I know what it's like to hide behind that badge of busy. Pouring so much into others that I had nothing left for myself. And letting my health and confidence suffer for it.

Let Go of Frump & Boost Your Confidence!

You feel like you have no time for working out or eating healthy. And forget about time to do your hair or put on make-up! Who has time for that type of blissful self-care?!?

So, you start to feel dumpy and lumpy and frumpy

But, you want to feel more pulled together. Messy-hair-don't-care type of thinking only goes so far. Especially when it's time to take the kids to an appointment or *gasp* go out with your friends.

Find out how to take back your time & boost your confidence. No need to hide behind feeling frazzled, frumpy, & dumpy.

You're tired of looking back on your day and wondering just where your time went. You hate to admit it but you've been squandering your time. And that vicious cycle is so hard to break!

Fortunately, you can take action and boost your confidence!

You'll need a bit of time to sort through where you are and where you want to be. Your path to improved confidence might look different than mine. And that's cool.

The trick is to recognize your value and self-worth. You are an amazing individual, woman, mother. And now it's time for you to embrace it 🙂

Wearing a beautiful wristwatch is an excellent way to boost your time management & confidence as a busy mom.
Oooh! Bit of an awkward pose but feeling fine wearing my Jord watch (despite messy side ponytail & Daylight Savings Time)

You CAN Boost Your Confidence As a Busy Mom

Here's my story about taking action to win back confidence. Hopefully, it inspires you to take some time for introspection that leads to a positive plan for you.

Tired of struggling with confidence issues as a busy mom, I decided to do something about it. I combined the power of positive thinking skills with healthy behaviors. To do so, I used these reminders (and I encourage you to do to the same) that:

  • I'm more than my schedule or the number of activities that are crammed into a week.
  • As much as I love my checklists and planners, my self-worth is not dictated by how much I get done.
  • It's okay to let go of things that don't contribute to my success or happiness.
  • Reframing is a powerful tool! Dirty dishes may be in the sink but they don't mean that I'm less than or not a good mom. Those dirty dishes mean that my family is fed and we were enjoying fun activities!
  • My health is important to my overall well-being and functioning. In order to be at my best and feel confident, I need to make time to take care of myself. In doing so, I will be better equipped to be the mom that I want to be.
  • I am in charge of my time. I can choose what I do, when I do it, and how I react.

Even though I was fully aware of all of these ideas, I needed to remind myself. I wrote all of these things down in my journal. Then, I determined what three things I needed to do to boost my confidence.

My three things are clean eating, exercise that I enjoy (walking and yoga), and time management. I knew what I needed for the first two priorities and took steps to make them happen.

My third priority was partially covered with my love of planners. But, I needed something more to help me consistently keep track of my time without distractions like apps or alerts.

And, luckily, I found a beautiful way to help me better manage my time as a busy mom. This beautiful Jord Watch! (pronounced YŌ-DE, rhymes with code)

When life gets busy, go back to what works. Keep it simple. And use practical tools, like a Jord watch, to remind yourself that your time is valuable. And so are you!

Yoga time! Wearing my Jord watch helps me remember to take time for taking care of myself.

To be honest, I haven't worn a watch in years. When I was in high school, college, and grad school, a wristwatch helped me maintain my sanity. I just felt better knowing that I could easily check my wrist and stay on top of my time management.

With the birth of our first boy, I gave up on wristwatches. A watch didn't feel write on my wrist when I was breastfeeding. And I didn't want to give in to my tendencies of overscheduling everything down to the minute and make being a new mama even more stressful.

Wearing a gorgeous wristwatch can help you feel together, organized, & get to places on time!
WooHoo! Feeling like a million bucks because I got Professor to soccer practice on time & have time to sit back & do a bit of one of my favorite activities-planning!

As the boys got older and our schedule filled with activities, I started to use my smartphone to keep track of time. Overall, it works well. Except when I get distracted by notifications and social media 😉 Or zone out on a scroll instead of watching my boys play or folding laundry. (Please tell me I'm not alone with this!)

A few friends recommended smartwatches but, again, distractions.

So, I thought I'd go back to what I know works for me: a wristwatch. I did some research but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Because I'm super picky about having something that feels comfortable and looks good!

A simple yet practical accessory like this Jord watch can help you feel together & elegant.
I'm managing my time so much better since I started wearing a wristwatch again! Juggling life as a homeschooler, blogger, soccer mom, & wife isn't easy. But, now I'm feeling more organized & confident!

When Nicole from Jord contacted me about their "timepieces inspired by nature", I was intrigued. A stylish watch with natural materials? Oh, she had my attention!

My eyes lit up when I browsed through Jord's beautiful selection of watches. So simple yet elegant! Perfect for poshing up my busy lifestyle 😉

Hearing me ooh and aah at the laptop, my boys rushed over. As soon as they say the Cora Polaris Jord Watch in walnut and blue, my boys were like, "Mom! That watch was made for you!".

I couldn't agree more.

  1. Very pretty! I've been debating getting a new watch too! It's been ages since I've worn one, but I think it may be time. I think the time saved by not getting sucked into your phone just because you are checking the time is worth it.
