Easy Ways to Take Your Fall Reading Fun to the Next Level

Need some quick ways to help your kids get excited about reading this fall? Or maybe you'd like some screen-free activities? Perhaps you want some frugal and easy activities for celebrating the start of a new season?

These free printable fall bookmarks to color (with sweet gnomes) are amazing for all of those things and more!

Over the years, I have found it incredibly helpful to have print-and-go ways to boost our celebration of any holiday, season, or special event. These types of printables are so easy to prepare ahead of time (or get ready if you need a last-minute activity). With five busy boys, these activities have saved my sanity time and time again.

As I was planning for our homeschool fun this autumn, I was reminded of our more recent favorite activities - coloring bookmarks (like our Pokemon, Super Mario, and Minecraft bookmarks)! Oh, and our sloth and axolotl bookmarks to color have been big hits.

I LOVE gnomes! I think these little cuties are so much fun all year round. My boys and I got big kicks out of our St. Patrick's Day bookmarks with gnomes. So, I really want to have some fall-themed bookmarks that feature gnomes!

This free printable set of fall-inspired bookmarks includes five different styles on one page. All of the bookmarks are designed to be colored and are in black-and-white.

Creative Ways to Make These Coloring Bookmarks

To fully enjoy these coloring bookmarks inspired by fall, I suggest printing on white cardstock to improve durability. Also, I think it's smart to laminate the bookmarks after your student has finished coloring and customizing.

I really like to use glitter gel pens (and their shimmery effects) for my bookmarks. My boys prefer to work with fine-tip markers and color pencils.

Another simple way to strengthen the bookmarks is to use washi tape on the back. This step reinforces the bookmark plus adds cool colors and textures.

An incredible idea is to use a hole punch at the top of the bookmark. Attach a ribbon or piece of colored twine or yarn through the hole for an extra bit of decoration.
