Online Lessons + Supplemental Curriculum = Easy Homeschool Boost!

As our homeschooling adventures enter a transitional phase, I'm doing my best prepare. I recently shared how our homeschool will only have 3 students (grades 4, 7, and 9) this year as my oldest continues learning his trade and Professor heads off to college.

Part of my prep work has been finding more easy yet effective ways to boost learning fun. I want to make sure that my younger boys have all that they need to feel challenged and inspired to explore their interests.

My youngest (Xman) is using Grade 4 Science from Discover! Curriculum. While learning more about those homeschool resources, I stumbled upon Elephango "A safe place for learning at all ages all year long". Intrigued, I put on my homeschool mom detective cap and uncovered a fun way to easily give my online supplemental curriculum and more.

4 Reasons These Online Homeschool Resources Rock

Here are 4 reasons why I decided to use Elephango to supplement our homeschool curriculum:

1. Personalized Learning

Elephango has a personalization tool that highlights lessons tailored to each student’s unique learning style, rather than using a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

2. Curiosity-Driven Learning

Your students are able to explore their interests and follow their passions. I love this approach that includes both going down rabbit trails and taking deep dives!

3. Character Development

There are lessons to help build character and emotional intelligence. These types of growth mindset skills are essential for school years and beyond.

4. Easy to Use

Elephango is accessible on any device (fantastic for on-the-go learning!). It was built by homeschooling experts for homeschoolers. AND parents have a dashboard with tools to manage student learning, monitor progress, and assess engagement.

Our Experiences with Elephango

Overall, my boys and I are pleased with our Elephango experiences.

Smiley (14) found an amazing lesson that focuses on 9th Grade College Planning Timeline. It references so many helpful resources (like O*NET OnLine), as well as provides a printable checklist that gives suggestions about what you can do each month. He's not sure if the college path is for him but wants to make sure he's covering all his bases.

Bear (12) loves to read and write but needs to work on spelling. He's been using Spelling Tips and Tricks for Middle School. Bear likes the mix of online text, visuals, and multiple choice practice that's part of the lesson.

Xman (9) adores geography (particularly U.S.) and has found a variety of lessons to explore. His favorite Elephango lessons so far have been When Did It Become a State? and Exploring the Northeast Region.

I think the simple online assessments for learning and personality styles are awesome. I find it helpful to have this type of information about my boys (and myself) because I have a tendency to pick resources based on what I prefer. With these assessments, I can see why each of my boys thrive with different types of resources and activities.

Also, I great appreciate the level of safety when using Elephango and its Google Chrome extension.
