Fantastic Ways to Make Story Time Special
My family's Dr. Seuss collection gets lots of love in our house, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish has become a go-to favorite. When Xman (my youngest) was two and working on colors and numbers, Bear (who was 5 at the time) could build confidence with sight words and reading.
That's what I love about these Dr. Seuss One Fish Two Fish activities - they work perfectly for different ages and stages!
The story starts with silly fish comparisons and grows into a whimsical adventure with new characters and amusing situations. It's the perfect springboard for creative learning!

Hands-On Learning With This Dr. Seuss Book
Here are some engaging One fish two fish red fish blue fish activity ideas we've tried and loved:
Create a "Funny Things Directional Pole" using:
- Empty paper towel roll
- Index cards
- Marker
- Tape
"From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere."
Get creative with these additional activities:
- Have a Dr. Seuss silly character doodle challenge. Each participant selects one silly creature and doodles it.
- Better yet, doodle your very own silly creature just like Dr. Seuss would make! Or use these free Dr. Seuss-Inspired Grid Art Activities for drawing fun.
- Play “Ring the Gack”. Break out your ring toss game or make your own frugal and easy ring toss game with cardboard rolls and paper plates! If you want to add in color, number, or sight word recognition, each participant must read a card or from the book prior to tossing a ring.
