Learn More About These Winter Alphabet Scavenger Hunts
This free printable pack includes 2 types of winter alphabet scavenger hunts. Each page has a cute snowman waving hello in the top right corner ⛄️
This first activity has a set of winter-themed prompts for each letter of the alphabet with the prompt “Can you find them all?” at the top.
No worries if you can’t exactly find each one! Simply customize to where you live. You can search books, videos, and other resources if you don’t have these items in your home or area.
Th second activity is super simple yet such fun! Participants think of a word for each letter of the alphabet related to the chosen theme. So, for this winter game, you could have:
- A = anorak
- B = blizzard
- C = cold
- D = December
- E = earmuffs
- F = frozen
- and so on…
Brilliant Ways to Boost the Fun of These Simple Activities
Although these games are simple, they really promote amazing interaction and brainstorming. My boys and I love thinking of different words related to the theme. We bolster the fun with these ideas:
- Work in small groups or as a team. The process of thinking out loud and agreeing on a word is wonderful collaboration.
- Play music in the background. Let your kids pick some favorite tunes or have a choose base on what you need at that time (calming, upbeat, etc.).
- Use cool writing utensils to boost the writing fun. My boys enjoy gel pens, Frixion erasable pens (so many colors!), crayons, markers, and special pencils.
- Challenge participants to think of more than one word for each letter of the alphabet. For example, snow shovel.
- Give small prizes, stickers, or stamps for each word that’s contributed and used. You can make a chart or just start a collection.
