Easy Ways to Celebrate Easter with Kids
Are you looking for simple yet creative ways to boost your Easter fun with kids? You'll love these printable surprise cards. (And make sure to get our other Easter coloring cards!)
New to surprise cards? Well, you and your kids are in for some sweet treats!
If you're not familiar with these types of interactive paper crafts, simple surprise cards open up to reveal a secret image or theme. The picture on the cover of the card splits in half and connects on the inside with a different image.
My boys think these cards are so cool! We first found surprise cards through Art for Kids Hub (one of their favorite places to go for dIY drawing fun). Xman and Bear (my two younger boys) have had a blast making these cards to share with friends and family members, as well as just because.
Since the boys have had such a blast with these drawing and coloring activities (like our free Easter coloring pages, free printable Halloween surprise cards, and Christmas surprise cards), I knew these printable Easter egg cards with adorable surprises would be awesome additions to our holiday fun collection.

Fun Ideas for Making and Enjoying These Surprise Cards
Not sure if your kids will be that excited about these printable cards? Well, there are so many ways for your students to enjoy these cards with hidden surprises!
I recommend that you print the cards on white cardstock. Your Easter cards will be stronger and more durable. Plus, your kids can jot down messages on the back that won't show through 😉
Go through all 12 styles of these cards. Your child can pick out their favorite one and begin with it. Also, brainstorm ideas for how your children can customize the blank templates.
Then, talk about your child's ideas for how to color their card. OR let them loose and flex those creativity muscles!
Another idea is to make a card for your child. Such a fun addition to an Easter basket or bag! Include a gift card or DIY coupon (for example, for movie night or later bedtime).
These printable Easter egg cards for kids are also outstanding for:
- Easter party
- Community events (for example, have copies at your library around Easter time)
- Homeschool fun activities
- Special ways to show friends and family you're thinking of them
- Delivering to hospitals and retirement communities
Wondering how to keep the card closed (and a surprise for the recipient)? We use small stickers or washi tape to keep the card shut until it's time to open.

F.A.Q.s about Making Surprise Cards
I print these cards on white cardstock. You can use regular printer paper but the cards will not be as strong (and may be a bit see-through).
I recommend that you use small stickers or washi tape. Try Easter stickers or Spring themes. Washi tape is a wonderful option because it will keep the card shut but not peel off any of the color or paper when opening.
Ooh! You can really make your surprise cards stand out by seasonal themes and colors. Talk with your children about their ideas and consider chocolate, candy (like jelly beans), butterflies, birds, caterpillars, grass, and baby animals.
