Why Harry Potter-Inspired Writing Prompts Rock!
If you have a Harry Potter fan, you're familiar with the appeal of these books by J.K. Rowling. Or maybe you're a Potterhead yourself!
After reading these seven books, the characters feel like your good friends (or worst enemies!). The plots draw you in, making you quickly turn the page to find out what happens next.
I'm eternally grateful to J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter series.
These books helped my two older boys become the voracious readers that they are today. Their love of these books spread to other written works, opening new worlds for my boys.
Unfortunately, my two older boys were not bitten by the writing bug.
These boys would much rather read and read and read then pick up a pencil. They have become more open to writing but still need a not-so-gentle nudge to practice their writing skills.
In anticipation of our mini-summer break, I created these FREE Harry Potter-Inspired Writing Prompts. I want my boys to continue to work on their writing and have fun while doing it.
I'm hoping to nurture a deeper appreciation for writing by combining it with their love of all things Harry Potter. Or, at the very least, they'll practice writing without a fuss!
Creative Ideas for Using These Harry Potter Writing Prompts
You can use these writing prompts with Harry Potter themes in a variety of ways.
As you read through the books, pick one prompt a day (or week). Students can independently work. Or you could have a group discussion, jotting down ideas and then writing.
Start a Harry Potter journal! In a spiral notebook (or loose-leaf paper in a binder), write and save all responses to these prompts in one place. Super cool keepsake!
These printable prompts are also great conversation starters. Fantastic ways to spark marvelous discussions with your kids.
