Why May is the Perfect Time for Fun & Relaxed Homeschooling
The end of the school year is in sight (well, maybe not so much if you’re year-round homeschoolers like us but maybe you’ll be taking a break soon!) and homeschooling can get a little tough—keeping things fun and relaxed is key.
Fun Homeschooling (which by the way, I just released a NEW free quick start guide with homeschool fun activity cards - find the link in the show notes) can make a big difference in how your month (and year) goes.
It can be so helpful to:
- Focus on light and flexible learning—no need for over-scheduled days. And remembering that it’s okay to move things around if necessary, especially if your kids are really into a topic and want to dive deep and spend more time with it.
- Enjoy connection and creativity through activities that are engaging but low-stress. Examples could be games, crafts, walks, scavenger hunts.
- Maintain momentum without feeling overwhelmed. “Just keep swimming!” like Dory said!
- Themes:
Spring Themes: As May is still spring, it’s a wonderful time to keep exploring themes of nature, flowers, plants, and insects.
- Flowers (study different types, plant a garden)
- Bees (importance of pollinators - you can use our free printable pollinators pack, honey-making)
- Gardens (planting, garden care, photosynthesis)
- Rainbows (color exploration, weather science)
